In today’s fast-changing world, educating health professionals requires new approaches. Together with European partners, THRIVE spent three years in the Erasmus+ ECOLAH project developing ways to prepare teachers and students for the complexity of building a healthy society.
Health professionals operate in a world shaped by globalisation, rapid technological change, and evolving social dynamics. Traditional education often fails to prepare them for the complex gap between theoretical knowledge and real-world healthy living.
ECOLAH developed an innovative learning framework, teaching modules, and capacity-building for educators to strengthen system thinking and interdisciplinary collaboration.

‘Learning in Complexity’ courses were piloted with teachers and students, enhancing higher education’s ability to address the complexity inherent in healthcare. The results are published in the ECOLAH modules and ebook: ECOLAH e-book.
Building on the ECOLAH project, THRIVE is now active in the NEST project, supporting ecosystem development for social innovation. nesterasmus.eu.
